Did you know that fall weddings are rapidly growing in popularity?
The benefits typically involve lower costs and much more temperate weather unless a freak heat wave in October rolls into
San Diego where the temps are moderate year-round.
Luck would have it that º104 was the high for my brother and sister-in-laws October wedding.
As I mentioned in the story about the wedding card box that I redesigned for them using a vintage suitcase-
Elliot and Christina’s wedding was themed around wine, golf, and travel.
I know, I know.. that sounds like theme overload.
Nope, not at all!
It really is possible to incorporate multiple themes AND do it not only tastefully, but in such a beautiful way that wedding guests will be talking for years about how beautiful that one wedding was.
Purple is my sister-in-laws favorite color and she wanted to use ivory and silver.
Fall Wedding Decor That is Anything But Drab
Elliot and Christina’s wedding was held at Maderas Golf Club, in Poway, Ca.
Their wedding package included darling little umbrellas and hand-held fans to provide a slight
reprieve for guests from the intense afternoon sun.
…..And then there is me,
who entered into the ceremony with my brothers and all the groomsmen on the opposite side of the building.
I ended up using the program to shield my face from the blazing sun and kept whispering to my mom that
I couldn’t believe I missed the darling umbrellas and wanted one too.
There I sat in ridiculous heat, no sunglasses, no cute umbrella, and fanless.
So sad for me.
My wedding program became a tacky sun visor.
Apparently, the photographer found it inspiring enough to shoot.
Ha, ha! Not really.
I’m pretty sure he saw an opportunity to capture that beautiful wrist corsage in a photo.
The beaded bracelet and the single rose complimented the deep purple tones of their wine themed wedding.
I loved the corsage.
Fall Wedding Colors Don’t Have to be Earthtones
Purple, lavender, ivory, and silver dominated this beautiful event.
Fresh rose petals were laid down the aisle in the prettiest swirling pattern.
The lavender pinkish hue is a beautiful contrast to the eggplant purple colored chair sashes around the Chiavari chairs.
The rose petals were included in the wedding package with Madeiras Golf Resort.
Charming Florals Decorated the Chivari Chairs
Details of The Wedding Gown
Here’s a beautiful backlit shot of Christina headed down the aisle.
Her dress was gorgeous!
As Christina walked down the aisle the delicate beading on the bodice of her wedding gown shimmered ever so slightly.
It was pure elegance.
Wedding Bouquets & Floral Arrangements
The combinations of flowers used in Christina and the bridesmaid’s bouquet
is a combination of Roses, Amaranthus, Hydrangeas, Calla Lilies and Queen Annes Lace.
A Unique Unity Ceremony
After the wedding vows and rings were exchanged a wine covenant ceremony took place.
Elliot and Christina poured their own glass of wine into a larger wine glass that was personalized with their initials.
The symbolism of this type of ceremony is the sharing of joys and sorrows, bitter and sweet,
and like any fine wine a marriage matures like with age as wine improves with time.
This was a perfect unity ceremony for their wedding as it pulled in on the principles of their faith,
their shared love of visiting wineries together,
and of course, we can’t forget the theme of their wedding was predominately based on a wine.
The meanings of this type of unity ceremony is vast.

Easy Bar Decor For Cocktail Hour
Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres immediately followed the ceremony in patio area overlooking the rolling hills as the sunset.
The decor in this area was simple and cute.
Elliot and Christina featured a signature cocktail that was selected at their engagement party.
All guests were asked to bring the fixings for their favorite adult beverage then a vote was held to determine
which one would be served during the cocktail hour.
Invitations, Seating Cards, Table Cards
As guests made their way to the reception they found their way to the tables in the ballroom from here.
Each place card was hand-made using corks to pull more of the wine theme into the decor.
On the opposite side of the foyer, guests were able to drop cards into the wedding card box and sign the guest book.
There are more details of this area and close up photos on the Wedding Card Box post.
A Look at the Reception Decor & Centerpieces
And now we are getting to the good stuff-
wedding table decor, centerpieces, place settings, wedding favors and all the juicy details of the reception!
Naming the Reception Tables
Each table was named after Elliot and Christina’s favorite wineries.
The table signs were hand-made and included a bottle of wine from the winery the table was named after.
Each bottle of wine included a personal photo of them from their travels together.
The wedding favors are cute wine stoppers placed above each place setting.
The centerpieces alternated between short and tall creating a dramatic impact throughout the room.
Each table also had tea-light candles to lend a romantic ambiance to the entire room.
I still can’t get over the floral arrangements.
They are some of the prettiest ones ever!
Like ever, ever!
Cookies & Milk Replaces a Dessert Bar
The shots of milk and cookies were a fun twist to a traditional dessert table and just enough sweet
but not to0 much that room wasn’t left to enjoy the wedding cake too.
The groom’s cake was a bit different.
It was frosted in a San Francisco Giants theme.
This photo is my brother’s favorite photo from the wedding.
Cracks me up!
He is such a golfer. This was a fun way to incorporate his two love’s into one splendid photograph of a hole in one shot.
As Elliot and Christiana left their wedding, the wedding guests blew bubbles in celebration of their union.
It was a fun ending to a beautiful day of celebrating their love.
You can really see how tall the centerpieces were as the guy on the left is holding one of them up as they pass by.
In just a few hours, Elliot and Christina would begin their journey to Europe for their honeymoon.
While there, they enjoyed all their honeymoon gifts from family and friends that were purchased on their non-traditional honeymoon registry.
You don’t want to miss my post-

I talk about their travels and why they bucked the norm and ditched a full traditional gift registry.
It’s definitely a must-read for anyone who questions these types of wedding registries.
