Purple Wedding Decor For A Fall Wedding Not Inspired by Pantones Ultraviolet Color Of The Year

This title is written tongue-in-cheek. Purple, I mean, Ultraviolet, was rocking the socks off this wedding back in 2014. Do you remember that was the year Pantones Vibrant Orchid dazzled us Color Of The Year? It’s a great color! The combination of the two is almost a perfect marriage. Ha. As if, right?

As I mentioned in the story about the wedding card box that I made for Elliot and Christina, their wedding incorporated wine, sports, and travel into their big day without being kitschy or cramming themed decor into every nook-and-cranny of their wedding.  Things like bottles of wine on the tables, colors they both enjoy, and the personal touches like a grooms cake iced to reflect Elliots love of baseball (which you’ll see in Part 2) are what comprises their interests as a couple but brings together things they independently enjoy too.

ULTRAVIOLET wedding decor for fall

The wedding was held at Madeiras Golf Club, in Poway, Ca and the wedding package included cute perks like the parasols and hand-held fans for the guests to use under the warm afternoon sun- 104º to be exact! So much for moderate fall weather.

The weather is usually nice in San Diego during the month of October but Mother Nature had other ideas when she brought a scorching 104 heatwave to the wedding. Instead of using a darling parasol or fan, I had to shade my eyes with a wedding program because I missed the parasols when I walked in with my brothers on the opposite side of the main entrance of the ceremony site. Bummer, huh! Apparently the photographer found my invention clever enough to capture a photo. Ha! Not really! I’m pretty sure he saw an opportunity to capture the corsage with it’s radiant orchid color right before it wilted right off my wrist.

Fall weddings are growing in popularity. With lower rates available in the off-season and typically cooler temps it’s no surprise at all!

Stunning wedding aisle decorations

Purple, ultraviolet, shades of orchid, and lavender, along with ivory, and silver are the main colors but shades of pink peek through every now and again. Fresh rose petals were laid down the aisle in the prettiest swirling pattern. The lavender pinkish hue contrasts beautifully with the eggplant colored chair sashes wrapped around the back of the Chiavari chairs.

Close-Up Details of the wedding dress!

Is this not a gorgeous dress? The delicate beading on the bodice shimmered ever so slightly as she moved. It was purely magic and elegant, just like a princess. Here’s a beautiful backlit shot of the bride headed down the aisle to meet her love.

Wedding Bouquets & Floral Arrangements

The brides and bridesmaid’s bouquets are a combination of Roses, Amaranthus, Hydrangeas, Calla Lilies and Queen Annes Lace. I don’t recognize what the the spikey foliage is but I like it!

Try this alternative for a unity ceremony

After exchanging vows and rings a wine covenant ceremony took place. Elliot and Christina each poured their own glass of wine into a single larger wine glass personalized with their initials. The symbolism of this type of ceremony represents the sharing of joys and sorrows, enduring the bitter and sweet and like a fine wine, marriage matures and grows better with age. This was a perfect unity ceremony for their wedding as it pulled on the principles of their faith and a shared love of wine tasting adventures.

The meaning behind this type of unity ceremony are vast. Take a look at Officiant Eric of Los Angeles, Ca.. He has an extensive list of unity ceremony ideas on his website.

Immediately following the ceremony, as the sun set, (finally) cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were served on the patio area that overlooked the rolling hills. It was a beautiful way to relax after the ceremony. Elliot and Christina did something unique by having a featured cocktail during the cocktail hours. It was chosen by guests who attended their engagement party. To keep things fun during the party, they asked friends to bring the fixings for their favorite drink and then held a mix-off-contest to place votes which determined the winner. I wish I could tell you what the drink was but I forgot to pay attention while I wandered around taking pictures for E & C. I wanted to be sure they would have nice ones to look at while waiting for the professional wedding photos. Ya’ll know how long that can take. It feels like an eternity!

As guests made their way inside they picked up a seating card in the foyer. Each one was hand-made to hold the little cards bearing their name along with the table name.

If you ask around, a lot of people don’t typically think of purple as a fall color but it is. This fall season I challenge you to look around you for shades of magenta, crimson, and even shades of pink in nature.  Purple is a perfect color for a fall wedding or any other time of year . . .

The flowers really were top-notch! I plucked some of the roses from the arrangements and brought them home with me to dry.

Beautiful wedding! I absolutely love the deep purple theme for the Fall! 😉

Gorgeous wedding – I’m not a huge purple fan, but the colors were lovely.

Deep purple is my sister-in-law’s favorite color. I was a bit skeptical when she first said she wanted purple too but as with any favorite color the key is to use it in small doses as a pop of color so it doesn’t overwhelm. I used to be a huge fan of purple until I kept growing taller and taller and realized I looked like Barney the dinosaur if I wore it. The fella just ruined it for me. LOL.

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking time to leave a comment.
Have a wonderful week, Candance. <3
